Eye Institute of Nevada (EINV) is being established as Nevada's first academic eye institute, housing the Department of Ophthalmology of Kirk Kevorkian School of Medicine at UNLV. EINV faculty specialists will provide multi-specialty ophthalmology surgeries and clinical care to those in Las Vegas and throughout Nevada, while training tomorrow's eye surgeons and specialists providing eye care and eye research.
Eye Institute of Nevada will have Board Certified faculty specialist in cataract surgery, LASIK, vitreo-retinal surgery, medical retina, glaucoma, oculoplastic surgery, pediatric ophthalmology, and neuro ophthalmology providing care for Nevadans in need.
EINV will establish a ACGME certified three-year residency program in ophthalmology. This will include a curriculum building eye specialty knowledge and surgical skills in many eye surgery procedures.
EINV will also established Fellowship programs of sub-specialty training for ophthalmologists post residency. This will include fellowships in vitreo-retinal, glaucoma, cornea, refractive surgery, oculplastic, pediatric ophthalmology, and neuro ophthalmology
EINV faculty will provide rotation learning to medical students of KIrk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV.
EINV will be providing care services that are often only able to be provided in academic ophthalmology. These include ocular oncology, ocular pathology, and low vision services. Currently, most of these services are four hours or more away for Nevadans.
Eye Institute of Nevada will establish a robust research department to participate and lead study programs that address eye diseases and digital technology utilization in eye care.
